A note to new readers: while we often delve deeply into financial topics (such as Behind the Scenes of a Happy Frugal Marriage and How We Save 65% Annually), we also like to keep it irreverent and downright silly. Because hey, who doesn’t need an investigative interview series conducted by a dog?! And so, I hope you’ll enjoy Frugal Hound Sniffs! If you’d prefer a more, ahem, financial independence-related post, start with More Than You Ever Wanted to Know About the Frugalwoods Family.

Greetings World Wide Web.

Frugal Hound here. It’s been a houndy few days at the Frugalwoods–yesterday my parents talked about dog swapping in order to save money. For the record, I would prefer to be the sole, and chief, resident Hound at all times. Interlopers not welcome. But, once I stop stealing their toys, I guess I sort of enjoy having friends over.

Today I am honored to welcome an esteemed hound to my Frugal Hound Sniffs column. This hound is no stranger to internet fame as he is the star of My Dog Pablo: The Freeloading Genius.

Ladies and gentlemen, hounds, cats (I guess), and sundry creatures, I give you Pablo of Club Thrifty notoriety.

1) Who are you? What are you? And who are your parent(s)?

I’m Pablo Johnson, Master of the Dole. My parents are Greg and Holly Johnson…or something. Who cares? I’m tired.

2) What frugal tips and tricks does your human use in your pet care regime?

I’ve been eating Kibbles and Bits for my entire life, and am so f&%king tired of it. Would it be too much to ask for some Eukanuba up in here?

3) Favorite treat?

I like sitting under the table during dinnertime. My three-year-old little person feeds me when she thinks no one is looking. I’ll take whatever I can get!

4) Favorite toy?

I’m blind as a bat, but I still love chasing a laser light back and forth in the living room. I often run into the wall since I can’t see, which usually involves Holly breaking out into a fit of hysterical laughter. The nerve!

5) What’s the most expensive thing you’ve destroyed?

My parents are C-H-E-A-P. Ain’t nothing nice in here.

6) Most embarrassing moment?

I can’t think of anything right now. Did I mention I’m tired?

7) How often do you get a bath and would you say it’s too often?

Oh, it’s way too often. But I like to roll in rabbit dung so I know it’s my fault. I just can’t help myself.

8) What is your family’s financial plan or goals and how do you contribute?

BAHAHAHHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Can’t. Stop. Laughing. I have no idea, nor do I care.

9) What is your best skill?

Flying under the radar. Maximizing every situation. Pretending I care when I don’t, and that I don’t care when I do. Mind tricks.

The End.

Thank you, Pablo. You are one bad boy hound! I too am working on my freeloading antics and I’m none too pleased that my parents see fit to exploit my photos for their own gain.

Mrs. Frugalwoods here: I want to thank Holly from Club Thrifty for helping Pablo out with his interview. Club Thrifty is a gold standard among personal finance blogs–if you’re not already a reader, get on over there now!

Are you a pet?

Do you have something to share with the internet? If so, answer my Frugal Hound Sniffs: Exclusive Interview Questions and have your parents email them to my mommy: mrsfrugalwoods@gmail.com (I can’t believe they won’t give me my own email account) and you’ll be featured in an upcoming issue! While I know we are more than just our images, please do send photos too.

Kisses,

Frugal Hound

  1. Frugal Hound is such a talented interviewer. Perhaps he can get hired on to “The View” as a hound correspondent. Pablo was a wonderful guest and he’s right. Who wouldn’t like to roll in rabbit dung and then sunbathe a little. Hee hee.

    1. Thanks! Frugal Hound is similarly exhausted from her long day of snoozing and following me around in order to get ear scratches. It’s a tough life!

    1. For real! Loafing around, napping, eating, getting treats, taking walks… sounds pretty decent to me!

    1. Agreed! I bet he just scoots around and gets away with anything :). Frugal Hound, being more of a small pony, is far less incognito…

    1. We were delighted to have Pablo! Just occurred to me that he and Frugal Hound sort of have the same cute face… hers is just a lot longer in the snout 🙂
