Mr. Frugalwoods, Babywoods, and I are thrilled to introduce you to the newest member of our family: Littlewoods! Our second daughter was born on February 17th and tipped the scales at 8 pounds, 2 ounces and 20.5 inches long. I always thought it was hilarious that parents shared the weight and length of their children, but, we’re so proud of them and there’s not really anything else to report about them at this stage other than… hey! it’s a baby! I feel like I know many of you personally through the comments and emails you send me and I’m always so grateful to be privy to your financial lives. Hence, I wanted to share this joyful news with you as soon as I could!

Introducing Littlewoods!

I’m sure I’ll regale you with a more detailed rendition of her birth at some point, as I did with our first daughter, but for now, I just wanted you all to know that she has safely arrived. I will tell you that her birth was much less harrowing than her sister’s. It was, all in all, a very straightforward and simple entrance to the world, for which we are tremendously grateful!

Mom, dad, baby, and big sister are all doing great and we’re being well looking after by my wonderful mother-in-law, who is here to help us for the month! Thank you, grandma!

Please have patience with me this month as I will likely be (even slower… ) to respond to messages, emails, and comments, although I will still be around (I can’t stay away!). Frugalwoods posts will continue since I actually got myself organized enough to write them in advance (something I have honestly never done before in my life).

Additionally, as you likely know, my third child–my book–will be born/published on March 6th and you can pre-order a copy now. I will mail you a signed bookplate if you do so (details here)! Thank you!

Thank you for reading along with our family’s story of joyful frugality and simple living and please keep us in your thoughts as we acclimate to life as a family of four!

  25. Adorable! Yes, it is amazing how someone so little pulls every string in our bodies.

In the future, and maybe you already covered this, do you purchase health insurance? One son needs to get insurance as his company does not offer it.

    1. “Pulls every string in our bodies” (and minds) really sums it up!

      Congratulations to the Frugalwoods Family!

  26. Welcome to the world, Little Frugalwoods! May your entire family’s life be blessed with health, happiness and joy.

I pray that for your girls as well!

  80. Congratulations to you all, wonderful new. As a granny, my daughter is having her first and is so keen to do everything naturally and frugally, how you do that.? What nappies you use in todays modern world and what gadgets have you found useful and what do you really not need.? Would love to hear your thoughts on some of these things. Thanks and enjoy the babe, they grow so quickly as you know 🙂 PS we in South Africa

    1. I had my babies in SA too, and the first thing is to NOT buy everything you think you will need, and to go second-hand for as much as possible. Other than a new cot mattress and ideally new car seat, gumtree is you friend, it really is! Borrow what you think you’ll need, there’s very little, other than nappies that absolutely must be purchased brand new right now. It’s tempting of course, but a lot of the early things are so quickly outgrown or simply never used.

I always used disposable nappies, so if she plans to use those, she could stock up on various sizes as and when they’re on sale, and hypoallergenic wipes / bum cream.

  81. Feliciations! Maybe saying it in French will make it different? May all your hopes and plans be realised. YvonneWest 6 times grandmother.

  82. Welcome to Littlewoods and congratulations to the proud parents. Hope all continues to go well.

    Best wishes

  87. Congratulations on new little babywoods. Sorry this is a little late. May she bring you so much joy and happiness. Enjoy all the new born cuddles and treasure each little stage xx

  88. Welcome to the world, won’t you come on in?
Miracles, I guess, still happen, now and then.

best wishes to all the frugalwoods ….
